Antoine de Villiers

Drawings by Antoine

Antoine surprised me one day by sending me a link to this delightful painting. Perhaps not surprisingly all things considered (saturation point, perhaps?), the number of drawings/paintings created with me as a subject seemed to be on a rather dramatic decline, so this was truly a surprise, and a very pleasant one. Antoine also sent me a very well-done print of this painting, which I greatly appreciated and consider a wonderful personal treasure.

I am very taken by the emotion and passion in this painting. To me this is a common characteristic of all of Antoine's artwork and I am extremely impressed by her work. I am also very excited, grateful and humbled to be a part of that.

Antoine called this drawing "simplistic". And, while the feel of it seems to fit it's name, I'm impressed with the strong feeling and emotion which is once again evident to me in the drawing.

Apparently inspired by a Figure Drawing Factory project, Antoine did a large number of figure "parts" images, including a few based on reference material that I had provided for the group. What especially amazed me about these, is how obvious it was, at least to me, that even from just a "part", that it was "me" that she had drawn. I very much enjoy Antoine's "style" of art as I find it highly respectful of the human form, something I greatly appreciate.
